๐Ÿ‡ Make a Day of It at Newbury Racecourse!

Bring the family and join us for a fantastic Schools Celebration Raceday at Newbury Racecourse on Wednesday 26 August 2026!

Enjoy an exciting evening of live horse racing, family entertainment and a brilliant day out, while also coming along to meet the Sheldrake Training team and discover where a passion for horses could take you.

Hurry Up!

Weโ€™re delighted to be attending the August Evening Raceday at Newbury Racecourse, where weโ€™ll be putting equine and racing apprenticeships firmly in the spotlight.

This is a particularly exciting day for Sheldrake Training as we are proud to be sponsoring the 7:30 pm The Sheldrake Training Limited ‘Train an Apprentice’ Handicap Stakes (Class 4).

Our Equine Team will be at the racecourse throughout the day, ready to meet aspiring apprentices, racing and equine professionals, employers and anyone interested in finding out more about the opportunities available through apprenticeships.

๐Ÿ‡ Thinking about a career with horses?

If youโ€™re passionate about horses, racing or the equine industry, come and talk to us about how an apprenticeship could turn that passion into a rewarding career.

Our team can tell you more about our Equine and Racing apprenticeship programmes, the qualifications available and how you can gain practical experience while earning and learning.

Whether you’re taking your first steps into the industry or looking to progress your existing skills, an apprenticeship could be the start of an exciting career.

๐Ÿ‘ฅ Looking to grow your team?

For employers, apprenticeships can be a fantastic way to bring enthusiastic new talent into your business while developing the skills you need for the future.

An apprentice can bring fresh ideas, energy and a willingness to learn, while your business has the opportunity to develop a talented individual who understands your organisation and its way of working.

Our team will be on hand at Newbury to explain how Sheldrake Training can support you through the apprenticeship process โ€” from finding the right candidate through to training and development.

๐Ÿ‡ Meet the Jockey โ€“ Mark Lawson!

Weโ€™re delighted to welcome jockey Mark Lawson to the Sheldrake Training stand at Newbury! With winning rides around the world, Mark has recently returned from racing stints in Bahrain and Barbados and will be bringing his wealth of experience to the day.

Mark will be on hand to ride the Racewood mechanical racehorse, give riding sessions, chat about life as a professional jockey and pose for selfies, giving visitors a fantastic opportunity to meet a jockey and find out what life is really like in the saddle.

Heโ€™ll also be bringing along his jockey kit, giving you the chance to get up close to the specialist equipment and weights jockeys use โ€” and discover just what it takes to compete at the highest level.

Come along, meet Mark, have a go on the Racewood mechanicalย racehorseย and ask him your burning racing questions! ๐Ÿ‡๐Ÿ“ธ
