Equine Groom EPA Standard
Apprenticeship Assessment Organisation is currently able to carry out EPAs for the riding, non-riding and racing pathways. This is a Level 2 Standard.
Who is this Equine Groom Standard for?
Apprenticeship Assessment Organisation will discuss in detail the EPA with both the employer and the training provider prior to accepting the requirement.
Any grading will be fully evidenced throughout as relevant to the grading descriptors in the assessment plan.

This is a level 2 apprenticeship standard that has a minimum duration of 12 months.
Steps required to be completed
STEP 1. Scheduling of Assessments
4-6 weeks before EPA
STEP 2. Knowledge Test
75 minute multiple choice tests taken in the Apprentice’s place of work. The Apprentice, end -point assessor and invigilator will be present. NB: This step must be completed before Apprentice can continue.
STEP 3. Practical Observation
The observation will take 5 hours in the workplace with the end-point assessor present.
STEP 4. Professional Discussion
The discussion informed by portfolio will take 60 – 75 minutes and will take place immediately after the observation. The Apprentice, end point assessor and Employer will be present.
STEP 5. Quality Assurance and Grading
Pass/fail and distinction.
STEP 6. Certification
