The Equine industry is a very large and diverse industry that offers opportunities working in areas such as livery yards and riding schools through to Stud and Racing yards.
Apprenticeships allow you to work while gaining a nationally recognised qualification at the same time, so if you are employed with Horses why not combine your love of horses with a nationally accredited qualification. To enjoy a career in the industry you must have a passion for horses and be able to demonstrate enthusiasm and a strong determination to succeed.
With this qualification you will achieve:
Level 2 BTEC Diploma in work-based Horse Care
Level 2 BTEC Certificate in the principles of Horse Care
Functional Skills Level 1 in maths and English
The apprenticeship covers topics that prove your competence to potential employers to work in equine and stable management roles in the equine industry.
You will cover the following:
Assistant Groom – non-ride
Assistant Groom – ride
Assistant Stud Groom/hand
Supporting Harness Horse Trainer
Assistant Groom – agriculture
The apprenticeship also includes Functional Skills Level 1 in maths and English.
How long is the course?
Minimum of one year.
You will be assessed in the workplace and prove your competence by producing a portfolio of evidence under the guidance of an assessor at the yard/stable. You will also sit a Functional Skills exam if needed.
